About Design KG021 - The Yacht Edition

KG021 is the yacht-spec option in our R MAX lineup - built for owners who want their machine to read as refined wealth, not aggressive race spec. The design uses deep midnight-navy base panels accented with rich copper and champagne-gold linework that flows in elegant horizontal ribbons across the body. The aesthetic is borrowed from high-end yachts, late-evening private jets, and aged whiskey advertising - sophisticated, not loud. Where most luxury wraps fall back on the obvious gold-on-black combo, KG021 uses navy and copper to signal a more cultivated taste. This is what your R MAX wears when it's parked next to a Range Rover Autobiography at the trailhead.

The layout is templated directly from OEM Can-Am 4-seat body panels - every cut, edge, and seam matches the body geometry to the millimeter. Sport, X rs, and Smart-Shox 4-seat trims share identical body panels and accept the KG021 kit without modification. This wrap pairs especially well with copper-anodized accents, bronze beadlock wheels, tan or saddle-leather seat covers, deep-tinted windshields, and warm-temperature LED interior lighting. If your R MAX lives as part of a curated garage and you want it to look more like a luxury machine than a toy, KG021 is the wrap that closes that gap.

Roof Wrap - Add-On Upgrade

The base KG021 kit covers all major exterior body panels but does not include the roof. Matching roof wrap is available as a +$300 upgrade - select the roof variant when ordering, or contact us before checkout to have it added. The roof upgrade includes templated coverage for both hard top and canvas configurations, designed to match the KG021 body layout for a complete unified look.

The Substance Material Stack

Every KG021 kit is built on a 21mil laminated stack using two race-proven Substance Incorporated products: Ultracurve® X1 print media bonded under Ultracurve® 1500 overlaminate. Both products are USA-made and were co-developed with Star Racing Yamaha and Monster Energy Kawasaki for the demands of professional motocross.

The print media - Ultracurve X1 (152 micron / 6 mil): A revolutionary flexible polymeric vinyl with proprietary FLO Technology for bubble-free installation, backed by an ultra-aggressive solvent-based pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive engineered specifically for the low surface energy plastics found on UTVs, ATVs, and motocross machines. Peel adhesion measures 35N/25mm - more than double typical high-tack adhesives.

The overlaminate - Ultracurve 1500 (381 micron / 15 mil): A 15mil clear vinyl overlaminate offering 336N/25mm tensile strength, unmatched gloss and clarity, and industry-leading abrasion resistance. The same overlaminate seen on Eli Tomac's Monster Energy KX450F at the Monster Energy Cup.

This material spec costs significantly more per square foot than generic 3M cast vinyl - but on a $40,000+ flagship UTV like the R MAX, it's worth it. Substance holds tighter to R-platform plastics, resists lifting at door edges and fender corners, survives mud, sand, water crossings, and pressure washing, and looks newer longer.

DIY Installation

KG021 installs in 5 to 10 hours for an experienced installer with the body panels off the chassis. The deep midnight-navy base is forgiving on the body of the machine - small alignment imperfections at edges and seams disappear into the dark blue surface. The copper and champagne accent panels are the ones to focus on; those are the elements that catch the light and define the wrap, so spend your most patient hours on those panels. Tools you'll need: heat gun on a low setting for the door curves, felt-edged squeegee, isopropyl alcohol at 91% or higher, clean microfiber towels, fresh utility blade, and a quiet afternoon. Step-by-step illustrated instructions ship in every kit. Professional install from a local wrap shop typically runs $400-$900, with UTV specialists trending higher.

Care & Lifespan

Treated right, KG021 lasts 3 to 5+ years under normal trail riding. Wash gently with mild soap and low-pressure water. Keep pressure washer wands at least 12 inches from the surface. Avoid harsh chemicals like degreasers, brake cleaner, or gasoline near the graphics. Store the R MAX out of direct sun when possible to extend wrap life.

Customization

KG021 ships in midnight navy with copper and champagne accents, but the base palette is easy to swap to: navy/silver (more cool/modern), navy/rose-gold (warmer/softer), forest-green/copper (woodland luxury), oxblood/champagne (heritage/vintage), or full custom Pantone matches. Initials, custom monograms, sponsor logos, and even subtle yacht-flag style branding integrate cleanly without breaking the refined feel.
