About Design KG022 - The Carbon Edition

KG022 is the carbon-spec option in our R MAX catalog - built for owners who treat their machine like a high-end build, not a toy. The design uses deep carbon-black panels with subtle weave-pattern texture, paired with emerald and jade green accent linework that runs at sharp 45-degree angles across the body. The aesthetic is borrowed straight from the high-end automotive world - think Lamborghini Sián trim, Aston Martin DBS, or McLaren P1 carbon edition. Where most "blackout" wraps just use flat black, KG022 uses deep carbon with intentional emerald accenting that reads as premium build, not basic.

The layout is templated directly from OEM Can-Am 4-seat body panels - every cut, edge, and seam matches the body geometry to the millimeter. Sport, X rs, and Smart-Shox 4-seat trims share identical body panels and accept the KG022 kit without modification. This wrap pairs especially well with carbon fiber roof panels, bronze or gun-bronze beadlock wheels, blacked-out cage powdercoat, and any LED accent lighting (the emerald accents complement green light kits beautifully). If your R MAX is the centerpiece of a high-end build with quality components throughout, KG022 is the wrap that signals "this is a serious build" without being loud about it.

Roof Wrap - Add-On Upgrade

The base KG022 kit covers all major exterior body panels but does not include the roof. Matching roof wrap is available as a +$300 upgrade - select the roof variant when ordering, or contact us before checkout to have it added. The roof upgrade includes templated coverage for both hard top and canvas configurations, designed to match the KG022 body layout for a complete unified look.

The Substance Material Stack

Every KG022 kit is built on a 21mil laminated stack using two race-proven Substance Incorporated products: Ultracurve® X1 print media bonded under Ultracurve® 1500 overlaminate. Both products are USA-made and were co-developed with Star Racing Yamaha and Monster Energy Kawasaki for the demands of professional motocross.

The print media - Ultracurve X1 (152 micron / 6 mil): A revolutionary flexible polymeric vinyl with proprietary FLO Technology for bubble-free installation, backed by an ultra-aggressive solvent-based pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive engineered specifically for the low surface energy plastics found on UTVs, ATVs, and motocross machines. Peel adhesion measures 35N/25mm - more than double typical high-tack adhesives.

The overlaminate - Ultracurve 1500 (381 micron / 15 mil): A 15mil clear vinyl overlaminate offering 336N/25mm tensile strength, unmatched gloss and clarity, and industry-leading abrasion resistance. The same overlaminate seen on Eli Tomac's Monster Energy KX450F at the Monster Energy Cup.

This material spec costs significantly more per square foot than generic 3M cast vinyl - but on a $40,000+ flagship UTV like the R MAX, it's worth it. Substance holds tighter to R-platform plastics, resists lifting at door edges and fender corners, survives mud, sand, water crossings, and pressure washing, and looks newer longer.

DIY Installation

KG022 installs in 5 to 10 hours for an experienced installer working with the body panels off the chassis. The deep carbon-black base palette is the most forgiving of any color in our catalog for first-time installers - small bubbles, micro-edges, and minor alignment imperfections that would scream against bright colors essentially disappear into the dark surface. That said, take your time on the emerald accent placement; those are the panels people will photograph. You'll want a heat gun on low for tight curves, a felt-edged squeegee, IPA at 91% or higher, clean microfiber towels, a fresh utility blade, and a patient afternoon. Step-by-step illustrated instructions ship with every kit. Pro install runs $400-$900 in most US markets.

Care & Lifespan

Treated right, KG022 lasts 3 to 5+ years under normal trail riding. Wash gently with mild soap and low-pressure water. Keep pressure washer wands at least 12 inches from the surface. Avoid harsh chemicals like degreasers, brake cleaner, or gasoline near the graphics. Store the R MAX out of direct sun when possible to extend wrap life.

Customization

KG022 ships as carbon-black with emerald-and-jade accents, but if you want a different accent color we can swap to: red (carbon/red - race-spec), gold (carbon/gold - luxury), copper (carbon/bronze - modern), purple (carbon/purple - rare), or any custom Pantone match you specify.
